Music Is Her Passion

Louisa Valentin is a versatile performer. Trained as a classical lyric soprano she has also become a veteran liturgical cantor, jazz/rock vocalist, and medieval music performer.

A Musical Journey

Louisa Valentin started her musical career in the Coro de Niños de San Juan (San Juan’s Children’s Choir), Puerto Rico’s premier children’s choir. During this time she was instructed in sight singing and music theory. She continued her musical training at the Instituto de Música Juan Morel Campos, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, where she studied Music Theory, Music History, and concert flute.

Through 2004-2005 she was selected to participate in the North Jersey Regional Women’s Choir and the New Jersey All State Women’s Choir. She competed in various festivals as member of Mt. Olive High School’s several vocal groups, including the premier chamber ensemble, winning several state titles in the process.

Eventually Louisa earned her Bachelor’s in Music – Classical Vocal Performance – from William Paterson University in 2009. In 2012 she traveled to Italy to perform for the International Academy of Music, performed with the Morris Choral Society and the New Jersey Choral Society.

​

Louisa has been a liturgical Cantor since 2005 and works as a freelance liturgical and classical singer within the North New Jersey region.

​

She is presently a member and flute player of the Picatinny Powder Kegs, a community band for the Picatinny Arsenal ARMY installation.
